Haren case: cbi gives khurshid presentation
The CBI on Tuesday gave a presentation to law minister Salman Khurshid on its proposal to file a special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court against the judgment of the Gujarat high court which acquitted 12 people accused of murdering senior BJP leader and former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya.
Recently, the agency officials had also apprised Union home minister P. Chidambaram about its proposal to file a SLP in the Supreme Court challenging Gujarat high court order.
According to sources, the agency officials, involved in the probe, presented complete details of the case that could be part of a proposed SLP before Mr Khurshid.
Earlier, there were different views on whether or not the probe agency should file the petition, but now it is certain that the CBI will file a SLP in the Supreme Court against the judgement of the Gujarat high court”, the sources said.
Pandya was shot dead on the morning of March 26, 2003 from close range in Law Garden area of Ahmedabad and CBI took over investigation of the case.
