Gujarat riot comments: Chandrababu Naidu lashes out at Narendra Modi
Hyderabad: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday flayed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on the Gujarat riots and asked him to withdraw it.
“I strongly condemn the Gujarat Chief Minister comparing the deaths in the 2002 Gujarat riots to puppies. Being a Chief Minister he should not have talked in such terms. He has no remorse for the gory incidents,” Naidu said in a statement.
He said that it was the duty of the government to protect the lives of people during times of natural calamities, riots, accidents and other incidents.
The government should instil confidence in the public, Naidu added. "Scores of Muslims died in Godhra riots and the statement of Modi would further hurt the families," he said.
