Groom is married off to a boy
When he had visited his to-be bride’s home in Barabanki district three months ago, it was almost love at first sight. Ganga Ram Tiwari, who belongs to Bahraich, was completely enamoured by Sunita’s simplicity and beauty and immediately agreed to the proposal.
The match-maker couple that arranged the match was paid a sum of Rs 30,000 for their services. However, Ganga Ram Tiwari was shocked out of his wits last week when he lifted the veil of his bride after the marriage was solemnised.
Instead of Sunita, he found that he had been “married” to a teenaged boy. The “bride boy”, when confronted, confessed that he had been married off in a similar manner nearly 18 times but no case had been registered by the “grooms” who were apparently too embarrassed by the situation. Ganga Ram Tiwari is a electrician by profession.

Rift in BJP over Tarun nomination
AGE CORRESPONDENT
New Delhi
Discontent brews in the BJP over its spokesperson Tarun Vijay’s nomination for the Rajya Sabha polls from Uttrakhand, as RSS veteran Seshadri Chari has shot off a letter to BJP chief Nitin Gadkari questioning the “integrity” of the party nominee.
In the letter, Mr Seshadri said, “It is surprising that the party has chosen to ignore those who have toiled sincerely for years, for its sake, and has chosen to reward those individuals whose integrity is questionable, to say the least, and whose relevance to the BJP’s political standing and future prospects is practically nil.”
Though Mr Chari did not mention Mr Vijay, the inference is obvious.
