Gov stands by troubled Rosaiah

At a time when the chief minister Rosaiah is besieged on many fronts namely the rebellion of Jaganmohan Reddy, taunts by detractors from within the party and allegations of being ineffective, he has found support from an unexpected quarter-the governor of the Andhra Pradesh state E.S.L. Narasimhan.

The Andhra Pradesh governor Mr Narasimhan who is in the capital ostensibly to meet the Union home minister and the Prime Minister interacted with the media casually on a variety of subjects. Though he refused to reveal the details of the purpose of his visit, he spoke on a range of issues including Jagnmohan Reddy’s future yatras and the sacking of the vice-chancellor Kusum Kumari of the Rayala Universitybesides backing the chief minister Rosaiah to the hilt.
Complementing the chief minister Rosaiah for doing a good job, the governor said the law and order situation the state was perfectly under control. He asserted that the state government was functioning well and there was no room for any complaint from any quarter.
When Mr Narasimhan was asked about the dismissal of Kusum Kumari and allegations of political motivations behind the move, the governor categorically said that there can be no politics when it comes to education. He added that the vice-chancellor was removed on charges of irregularities. When it was pointed out that the education minister was not taken into confidence before the removal, the governor replied that the minister was out of station and hence unavailable. The governor asserted that there was no question of ignoring the minister.
Mr Narasimhan also exuded confidence that there would be no law and order problem if and whenever Jaganmohan Reddy untertook any Yatra in any part of the state including the Telangana region.
On the Telugu Desam Party(TDP) leader Chandrababu Naidu’s padayatra to Tirupati, the governor is of the view that anybody and everybody had the right to go on a yatra.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
