Gogoi skips S. Africa trip for ‘extremism’
Assam CM Tarun Gogoi here on Friday said that he cancelled his scheduled week-long visit to South Africa in view of the sudden spurt in extremist activities in the state.
In an obvious clarification to reports in the media and charges of Assam BJP leaders that Mr Gogoi was asked to cancel his trip to South Africa by Central party leaders, Mr Gogoi in statement said that he has informed the matter to PM Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi through a letter.
