Gogoi admits resentment
With controversy rocking the nomination of Santiuse Kujur, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi here on Tuesday said that angry Congress legislators would not go against the party line but would vote for the candidates nominated by the party.
Mr Gogoi admitted that there was some resentment over the name of Santiuse Kujur but claimed that it would subside.
“I know the reaction of Anjan Dutta and many other legislators but once party high command has declared the name of Santiuse Kujur, all should vote for him,” said Mr Gogoi.
“We are a disciplined party. Once high command has given final approval for Kujur, all will caste their vote for him,” he added.
Mr Gogoi said, “I will talk to Anjan Dutta and his supporters to persuade him to caste vote for the party candidate.” It is significant that many more Cong-ress leaders have started expressing reservation about the process of nominating RS candidate. The anger is growing against Assam CM Tarun Gogoi and PCC chief Bhuwneswar Kalita for not doing enough to get the right person nominated. It is significant that chief minister was not aware about the nomination of Santiuse Kujur for the second seat.
