Given a chance will change Maha to UP: Mayav
vFormer CM of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati on Sunday claimed that she is capable of transforming Maharashtra into Uttar Pradesh if given a chance to rule. Addressing a rally at Kasturchand Park at Nagpur, the BSP supremo said that if people in Maharashtra wanted the state to be well-developed like UP, the BSP should be given a chance to rule.
She asked the party leaders and workers to work hard to expand the party mass base in the state. Ms Mayawati said, “We want to talk about the development rather than resorting to caste politics.” The BSP chief further claimed that Indu Mill land was approved for the memorial of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar because of her efforts.
“If I come into power I will erect the memorial on 200 acres of land instead of mere 12 acres.” she said. BSP leader also claimed that memorials of Mahatma Phule and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj will also be built by her party.
She further accused the Congress and BJP of conspiring to stall the bill on quota in promotion for SC/STs in government jobs. “After the SC had quashed the UP government’s decision on reservation in promotion for SC/ST’s, Congress-led UPA government could have filed a review petition, but they did not. Both Congress and BJP conspired to deny the right of lakhs of government employees.”
“BSP had to take this fight to streets and finally to the Parliament. Though we have succeeded partially as RS has passed the Amendment Bill, it is still pending in LS.” Lashing out at the UPA government for the policies, she said that inflation, poverty and unemployment are at all time high at present due to “anti people” and “pro corporate policies” of the centre like FDI in retail.
