Delhi police on Friday expressed confidence that absconding former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda will soon be arrested in connection with former airhostess Geetika Sharma suicide case.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West), P. Karunakaran , said the police is making all efforts to arrest Kanda at the earliest.

"Sometimes, it takes time to catch a person. He will be caught. Every person has so many places to take (shelter)," said Karunakaran.

"He did not come up for questioning following which we declared him absconding. There is no delay on our part," he added.

To a poser on why Geetika's post-mortem report has not been disclosed yet, Karunakaran said the policed received the report on Thursday evening, and added that it would be revealed only after it is properly studied.

"We received the post-mortem report on Thursday evening. I will let you know about it after going through it," he said.

Certain media reports, however, say that Kanda will surrender on Monday.

Delhi Police earlier issued a lookout notice against Kanda after he did not turn up for questioning in connection with the suicide case.

A Delhi Court had earlier on Thursday rejected Kanda's anticipatory bail plea, saying the charges against him were serious and that he may hamper the probe.

Kanda, who skipped questioning for his alleged role in Geetika Sharma suicide case, had moved the court for anticipatory bail.

Kanda, who resigned after former airhostess Geetika Sharma named him in her suicide note, has been charged with abetment of suicide and criminal intimidation.

Delhi Police, which had asked him to come for questioning in connection with this case, conducted raids at his home and a school owned by his family in Sirsa earlier on Thursday morning.

Sharma's family has accused Kanda of ruining her chances of working with the international Emirates airline, while pressurising her to remain with MDLR.

Kanda's aide and MDLR official Aruna Chaddha has been remanded in two-day police custody in connection with this case.

Delhi Police arrested Chaddha, who also has been accused of abetting the suicide of former airhostess, earlier on Wednesday.

23-year-old Geetika, a former airhostess with Kanda's now defunct MDLR airline, was found dead on Sunday at her Ashok Vihar residence in northwest Delhi.

In a suicide note found at her residence, Geetika accused Kanda and MDLR official Aruna Chaddha of repeatedly harassing her.

Delhi Police had earlier registered a case of abetment to suicide against Kanda on the basis of the suicide note.
