Gadkari to CBI: File FIR on PC
BJP national president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday demanded CBI to immediately file a FIR against Union home minister P. Chidambaram and initiate investigation into his role in the alleged spectrum allocation scam in the wake of fresh disclosures on the issue. Mr Gadkari, who arrived here on a day’s visit to
Chhattisgarh to attend a convention of panchayat members at Durg, nearly 60 km from here, told the reporters at Manna airport that either Mr Chidambaram should resign on his own or the prime minister Manmohan Singh show him the door following the reported fixing of responsibility on him for 2G scam by Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee.
Mr Mukherjee, in his recent letter to the Prime Minister, has reportedly observed that the then Union finance minister Mr Chidambaram could have prevented the controversial spectrum allocations.
The BJP chief said the former disgraced telecom minister A.Raja had clarified that he had kept the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and finance ministry in the loop while taking all decisions on spectrum distributions. “Now the needle of suspicion clearly points to Mr Chidambaram in the 2G scam after coming to light of Mr Mukherjee’s letter”, he added.
He also ridiculed the prime minister and the Congress party leadership for defending Mr Chidambaram and accused them of trying to shield him. On senior BJP leader L.K. Advani’s proposed rath yatra campaign against corruption, Mr Gadkari said preparations were in full swing for this and the date of commencement of the yatra would soon be announced after his meeting with senior party leaders at New Delhi.
