Gadkari on 2-day visit to Rajasthan
The Rajasthan BJP has galvanised its rank-and-file in view of party president Nitin Gadkari’s two-day visit. He is reaching Jaipur on Monday to launch the party’s campaign against corruption and price rise.
According to the BJP, it will be a busy schedule for Mr Gadkari as he will address a number of programmes. He will address a gathering of party workers on Monday while in the evening, the BJP president will address a meeting of trade organisations.

Amarinder blesses 101 newlyweds

May 1: In a wedding ceremony with its very own touch of royalty, Punjab Congress president Capt. Amarinder Singh, who is also the current Maharaja of Patiala, blessed 101 couples —all children of farm poor workers — who tied the knot at Mohali on Sunday morning.
Capt. Singh gifted each newlywed envelopes containing the customary shagun on behalf of the party while asking them to resolve to combat the scourge of female foeticide that is sweeping Punjab and neighbouring states.

‘Gujarat’ plans to replace ‘Bombay’ in all state acts
Ahmedabad, May 1: The word “Gujarat” will replace “Bombay” in all the Acts and rules in force in the state, 51 years after Gujarat was carved out of erstwhile state of Bombay.
The announcement was made by Gujarat CM Narendra Modi on Saturday, during a function to mark the conclusion of the state’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, in Gandhinagar. Gujarat Assembly, on March 28, had passed a special bill to replace Bombay with Gujarat in the names of all the Acts. —PTI
