Fresh raids in U.P. and bihar in NRHM scam

The CBI on Saturday conducted more searches at 23 locations in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Bihar in connection with the multi-crore National Rural Health Mission scam.

According to reports, CBI sleuths raided the offices and residences of CMOs and deputy CMOs in several cities, including Meerut, Varanasi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Patna.
The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday had registered four new cases in connection with alleged embezzlement of funds under the NRHM by medical and health officials who had colluded with private drug suppliers to procure inferior medicines at exorbitant rates. There are allegations of gross irregularities and manipulation in award of contracts by CMOs to various private parties.
