Free colour TVs for all Puducherry families

Puducherry: The Puducherry government would soon distribute colour TV sets free of cost to all families, irrespective of their economic status, local administration minister A Namassivayam said today.

Handing over revolving fund totaling Rs 10.32 lakh to around 80 Self Help Groups under Swarna Jayanthi sahari Rozgar Yojana (urban self employment scheme), he said the government had introduced several important schemes for the benefit of women, which hardly any state might have done.

He said the Congress party was also going ahead at the natinoal level with its initiative to implement 33 per cent quota of reservation for women in legislative bodies.

Opposition AIADMK legislator Anbalagan, CPI members N Kalainathan and R Viswanathan and chairperson of Puducherry municipality Dr B Sridevi were among those present.
