Former Naxalite killed in her own house
A former Naxalite was murdered by unidentified persons in her flat at Pragathinagar in Hyderabad on Friday afternoon.
Identified as Pushpalatha, the 35-year-old woman and her two children were staying on the first floor of the house near Pragathi Supermarket. Police believe property disputes are to be blamed for the murder.
The murdered woman hails from Kandlapalli village in the Pudur mandal of Ranga Reddy district. Her husband Ganesh Babu Goud, an advocate and Naxal sympathiser, was murdered in 2008.
Uppal Inspector R. Satyanarayana Raju said the crime might have been committed between 12.30 pm and 1 pm, The murder came to light when her cousin Mahesh and her children Pragathi, 13, and son Satwik, 10, came home at around 1.15 pm. On seeing her in a pool of blood, they immediately alerted 108 who in turn alerted the police.
Following a complaint by her daughter Pragathi, the Uppal police has registered a case. The hand of relatives is strongly suspected. Pragathi told the media that there was an attempt on her mother earlier.
The house owner, Mr D.S. Lakshminarayana, a reader at the Osmania University and his family did not have any idea of Pushpalatha or what she did to make a living.
“We have been asking house owners to inquire about tenants, but it seems they are not bothered,’’ Uppal Inspector said.
