Forest department charge on Mohanlal over tusks
A case has been charged against actor Mohanlal on Thursday by the forest department on charge of possessing tusks. The Kodanad range officer submitted a report in this regard before the Perumbavoor chief judicial magistrate on Thursday.
In the report it is said that the case has been charged after a team of income-tax sleuths conducted raid at Mohanlal’s residence last year. He also submitted the status of the investigation, statements and documents they collected in the case before the court.
The investigation officer said that the case will be quashed if the actor presents valid licence for the tusks. Mohanlal will also be charged if the department finds that he had attempted to sell off the tusks without the permission of Forest department.
Earlier, the police has also taken steps to quiz the actor in connection with tusks issue. This decision was taken after the DGP received a petition from one Anilkumar who questioned the police’s inactiveness in probing the source of tusks despite knowing that the actor possesses a pair. In his petition on behalf of the Federation of Right To Information, Anilkumar has said the cops should find the source and details of the tusks.
From the preliminary investigations conducted by the police it is found that the tusks were of tusker Kuttikrishnan that died in 1986. However it will be confirmed only by verifying the actor’s licence details.
