Five-year-old tribal girl raped and murdered

A five-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped and strangulated to death by unidentified miscreants in Kuluptanga bustee, about six km from Jamshedpur, police sources said..

The girl's family members lodged a police complaint when she did not returned home after she left home to see Ganesh Puja in the vicinity, the sources said.

Following the complaint, senior police officers of the Seraikela-Kharswan district pressed sniffer dogs into service on Thursday and traced the body dumped in a bush near her house.

The girl was strangulated with her frock, police said.

Prima facie, sources said, it was case of rape and murder, they said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem as police started investigation into the incident.

Ironically, the victim’s 12-year-old cousin was murdered in a similar fashion in the same spot in 2010
