First CBI case filed on Games
The CBI has registered the first case in connection with alleged irregularities being detected in various Commonwealth Games projects.
The case has been registered against three officials of the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune, and two representatives of bus manufacturers, Ashok L
eyland, in connection with alleged irregularities in the procedure for taking samples for procurement of low floor CNG buses by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The DTC is in the process of procuring around 3,700 low floor CNG buses for the Commonwealth Games-2010.
According to sources, the CBI has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act against M.H. Bavardekar, in charge of technical directorate, V.D. Chavan, scientist, Auto Lab-I, and D.N. Nande, head, Engineering Division-I, of the CIRT. Two representatives of the manufacturing company against whom case has been registered include, A Medhekar and V.P. Gautam.
A team of CBI officials from Pune is also camping in Delhi and collecting relevant documents from the transport department.
