Firm gives `20K cr investment proposal
The Universal Success Enterprises (USE) on Friday submitted fresh investment proposals of `20,000 crores to the new government led by the Trinamul Congress which has assumed office on May 20. USE promoter Prasoon Mukherjee called on state commerce and industries minister Partha Chatterjee with his proposals of setting up power plants, industrial park and eco-tourism facility at Nayachar.
However, significantly, he did not propose to set up a chemical hub over there for which the earlier Left Front government had identified the location. Hence it seems that the chemical hub project has been totally scrapped as of now. It may be recalled that earlier also, the USE had announced to set up power project in the state during the Left Front’s regime. After the meeting, Mr Mukherjee said, “We will invest `12,000 crores to set up three power plants of 660 MW each and another `8,000 crores to construct an industrial park. The financial closure for the power plants will be made in September and by 2015, two power plants will start generation.” According to the proposals, the USE will need 10,028 acres for the power project, while it will require 4,000 acres and 6,000 acres for setting up industrial park and eco-tourism facilities respectively.
“If the earlier Left Front government scrapped the projects after the announcement of the Assembly election dates, then it definitely committed a gross mistake. We will review these proposals and will also examine whether they have all necessary approvals. If they have all clearances, we will not make any unnecessary delay in giving the green signal to them,” Mr Chatterjee said.
