Final Ruchika report this month

The CBI will file its final report in the Ruchika Girhotra molestation and suicide case by the month-end. The agency will also mention the statement of Ruchika’s brother Ashu Girhotra, which was recorded by the probe officials, in the final report.
According to sources, the final report is also likely to mention the statement of Veena, who had reportedly signed the inquest report of the deceased posing as her mother. The final report will be filed by the agency in connection with the investigation relating to the three FIRs registered against former Inspector General of Police, Haryana, S.P.S. Rathore and others.
Fourteen-year-old Ruchika Girhotra was allegedly molested in 1990 by the then IGP Haryana, Rathore. After she made a complaint, the victim, her family, and her friends were allegedly harassed by the police leading to her eventual suicide.
Sources further said that the agency has also recorded the statement of Gajender Singh, alleged kingpin of the inter-state vehicle lifting gang whose statement had led to Ruchika’s brother Ashu being arrested by the police in 1993. Several state police officials, some of them retired, have also been interrogated by the agency. Their statements too will mentioned in the report.
The agency is also expected to mention its findings related to mentioning of Ruchika’s father S.C. Girhotra’s name as “Subhash Chand” in the inquest report. The probe officials have ascertained identity of the person responsible for mentioning Ruchika’s name as “Rubi” in the same report also. This too will be the part of the report, sources added. S.C. Girhotra had mentioned in the FIR registered on December 29, 2009, at the Panchkula (sector-5) police station that names were changed intentionally. Mr Girhotra had said in the FIR, “Name of my daughter was intentionally changed from Ruchika to Rubi.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
