‘Ex-top cop forged papers to nail Modi’
The R.K. Raghavan-led SIT on Gujarat riots has found that state’s former additional director-general of police R.B. Sreekumar had “created” certain documents in clandestine manner two months after the February 2002 carnage making post-dated entries to show that chief minister Narendra Modi had issued certain “illegal” directions to the police officers during the riots.
The SIT came to the conclusion while probing 32 specific allegations against Mr Modi, other politicians, bureaucrats and police officers after collecting the evidence about allegation ‘V’ that CM had issued “numerous illegal directions” to officials. Mr Sreekumar made the allegation before Nanavati commission probing the riots in his affidavit filed after three years of the riots. “This allegation (V) is based on entries made by the then ADGP Sreekumar in a register that he had opened in April 2002 (two months after riots), within a week of taking over as head of the state intelligence. The entries related to alleged illegal instructions that he had received from his superiors and some other functionaries, including the CM. Those covered a wide range of matters, such as keeping a watch on certain individuals, monitoring of telephones and direction form the chief secretary that those who obstructed the Rath Yatra should be eliminated,” the SIT report said.

BJP: won’t allow repeat of last session
New Delhi, May 18: Demanding that the Lokpal Bill be brought in this session by incorporating changes suggested by the Opposition, the BJP on Friday said the government should not think it can get away with a repeat of the scenario that took place on the last day of the Winter Session.
“If the government thinks it can deliberately delay the Lokpal Bill and bring it on the last day of this Parliament session, then it is mistaken. The excuse of a time constraint will not be accepted by the Opposition this time,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
The Opposition party maintained that government has not conveyed to it any date on which the Lokpal Bill will be brought to the Rajya Sabha for discussion and passage.
There are only two working days left for the Budget Session to conclude.
