Ex-minister, BJP leader Dilip Singh Judeo, 64, dies
Colourful politician and the BJP’s Hindutva face in Chhattisgarh Dilip Singh Judeo Wednesday passed away in a private hospital at Gurgaon following prolonged illness. He was 64.
According to his family members, he had been suffering from chest-related ailments for the past few days and was admitted to Gurgaon’s Medanta hospital last fortnight. His end came at 7 pm.
The reigning prince of royal family of Jashpur in north Chhattisgarh, Judeo strode like a colossus in Chhattisgarh politics ever since he led the party to victory in the 2003 Assembly polls. He narrowly missed the opportunity to head the first state BJP government after a scandal allegedly involving him surfaced in November 2003. He was accused of receiving bribe from an Australian firm to grant a mining lease in Chhattisgarh when he was Union MoS for forests and environment at the Centre.
