Ed notice to jagan to record statement
The Enforcement Directorate issued a notice to Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday for recording his statement in Chanchalguda prison after his counsel refused to accept the same.
The ED had earlier filed a petition in the special court for CBI cases to record Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statement in jail regarding his illegal assets case under the Prevention of Money laundering Act.
The court had directed the ED to serve the notice on Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s counsel Ashok Reddy but he refused to accept the same. Following this the court asked the ED to serve the notice on Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy himself at Chanchalguda prison and the ED’s counsel served the notice later in the day.
The ED had earlier filed a petition seeking permission to record the statement of Jagan as the former director and chairman of M/s Jagathi Publications. The company had been named accused in the first chargesheet filed by the CBI in the illegal assets case. In its petition, the ED has stated it was the only competent authority to investigate the matter under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and Foreign Exchange Management Act.
The court had posted the matter for further hearing to June 25.

1,500 acres transferred to Posco
Mumbai, June 20: After seven years of delay, the Posco steel project will start rolling soon as Orissa has started transferring around 1,500 acres to the Korean steel major to set up an 8-million tonne plant in the first phase, Orissa steel and mines minister Raghunath Mohanty said on Wednesday.
However, the minister did not specify a timeframe under which the land transfer will be completed.
Meanwhile, the state will also soon sign a tripartite agreement with Posco India and Posco to revive the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Korean steel major, which had lapsed since June 2010, the minister said.
“Transfer of around 1,500 acres is underway and we hope the tripartite agreement with the steel company will be signed soon,” Mr Mohanty told PTI over the phone. — PTI
