Ecology needs to be protected: Speaker
Nellore: Speaker of AP Assembly, Nadendla Manohar has assured to take all the steps necessary to develop tourism potential in and around Nelapattu Bird’s Sanctuary and Pulicat Lake.
He was addressing the well attended valedictory function of three day Flamingo festival at Junior College grounds in Sullurpeta on Thursday. He said that the Flamingo festival would help for the fast development of the Sullurpeta region besides bringing special identity for the area.
Mr Manohar observed that the arrival of birds to the area every year itself is a special recognition to Sullurpeta.
He underlined the need to protect the environment to ensure the return of migratory birds from far away places every year. He indicted to the plans to bring a special legislation to protect the birds and safeguard the environment. Mr Prabakar promised his efforts to build an auditorium at Sullurpeta.
Speaking on the occasion, social welfare minister PithanI Satyanarayana said that the government has been paying special attention to conduct the bird’s festival.
Finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said that they have plans to conduct the festival at national level to ensure place for Nellore district in the tourism map of the country. Sulllurpeta MLA Parasa Rathnam, Gudur legislator, Balli Durga Prasad, Nellore town legislator, M. Sreedharkrishna Reddy, Surveypalli legislator, Adala Prabhakar Reddy, Venkatagiri legislator, K. Ramakrishna, Kavali legislator, Beeda Masthan Rao, MLC, Vakati Narayana Reddy, collector, B. Sreedhar and SP B.V. Ramana Kumar were also present among others.
