DYFI taps Shivaji to woo hindus
After wooing Christians in Kerala using posters of Mother Mary, the DYFI, the youth wing of the CPI(M), is now trying to woo Hindus in Maharashtra by observing Chhatrapati Shivaji jayanti in a big way.
The DYFI has put up the posters across Maharashtra to mark the occasion and is also using them for its party conventions.
The DYFI national leader and MP, Mr M.B. Rajesh, defended observing the Jayanti of the Shiva Sena icon and said the organisation also honoured icons such as Sree Narayana Guru and Sahodaran Ayyappan in Kerala.
Further, the DYFI mumbai committee president, Ms Preethy Sekhar, a Keralite, told Deccan Chronicle Shivaji was no Hindutva propagator and his image was misused by some religious fanatics to create enmity among religions.
However, DYFI sources in Maharashtra said there were some ideological conflicts among the cadre regarding putting up the posters of Shivaji.
