UP dy CMO family in court for cbi probe

Deputy CMO Y.S. Sachan was cremated here on Friday after the family’s petition for a CBI probe was clubbed with other petitions in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court and posted for hearing in a regular bench on July 18.

The court directed the state government to hand over a copy of the post-mortem report to the deceased doctor’s family after which the family agreed to cremate Dr Sachan.
A heavy posse of policemen reached Dr Sachan’s residence in the afternoon and the body was taken to the Bhaisakund cremation ground. The cremation as held around 5 pm.
Meanwhile, Dr Sachan’s wife Malti wrote a letter to DIG D.K. Thakur demanding that case of murder be registered in the mysterious death of her husband. She said that the death of deputy CMO should be treated as murder and not suicide in view of the evidences in this regard.
“My husband has been killed in jail to protect some highly-placed people responsible for large-scale pilferage of funds in the state family welfare department. He was initially charged only for committing financial irregularities in the department but his name was later dragged into the murder case of chief medical officer V.P.Singh,” Dr Malti said in the letter.
The UP PMS Association also came out on Friday to demand a CBI probe into Dr Sachan’s death. The president of the association, Dr D.R. Singh told reporters that they would soon meet the chief minister and hand over a memorandum seeking a CBI probe into the death.
In a related development, Anand Tiwari, the shooter who allegedly shot dead CMO Singh on the directives of Dr Sachan, told reporters that he now apprehended a threat to his life.
Anand Tiwari, along with two others, was in court on Friday for hearing. He said, “I fear a threat to my life and I want the court to shift me to a jail outside UP.”
