Drunk teachers worry schools in Rajasthan
The Rajasthan government is taking serious note of the rising number of cases of teachers reporting to the schools in drunken condition. Education minister Bhanwar Lal Meghwal admitted that 18 such cases have been reported in the past two years.
According to the sources, in the education department, half-a-dozen cases came in to the notice while the teachers molested the girls in the schools. Mr Meghwal assured the state Assembly that the guilty will not be spared.
‘’There were 18 such cases reported in the last two years when the teaching staff were found under the influence of alcohol but the medical check-up was done only in five cases,” said a senior official with the education department.
Baran district in southeast Rajasthan witnessed five such cases while three cases were reported in Tonk district. The authorities had suspended the drunken staff but the action was withdrawn after some time.
The authorities admitted that five cases of molestation by teaching staff were reported in the last two years. Besides this, one case of rape was reported from Bhilwara district.
