Drunk Koya tribals kill fellow men, held
The Malkangiri district police on Saturday arrested two Koya tribals of Titam village under Korkonda block on charges of murdering two of their fellow people during a festival on Friday night.
The accused were identified as Appu Madkami and Aita Madkami.
Inspector Ramakrushna Patri of Malkangiri police station said during the last day of Nuakhai, the main festival of Koya tribals, Appu Madkami, who was in an inebriated state, picked up a quarrel with on Bisha Madkami. The scuffle suddenly turned violent with Appu attacking Bisha with an axe. Bisha, 55, died on the spot. His younger brother Aita Madkami and father Irma Madkami attempted to kill Appu.

As Appu’s nephew Takudu Madkami came in between to save his uncle, Aita hacked him to death.
After being informed by the village guard, the police reached the spot on Saturday morning and arrested the accused.
