DMK won’t seek govt berths
As talk of a Cabinet reshuffle gains momentum in political circles in the national capital, the DMK in all likelihood will not avail of its “right” to two vacant ministerial berths. The vacancies were caused by the resignations of Mr A. Raja and Mr Dayanidhi Maran in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
According to sources, DMK chief M. Karunanidhi is not inclined to stake claim to ministerial positions for his party at this juncture as that would show his party in poor light on account of the recent diesel price hike and the Centre’s move to allow foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail.
