DMK high level committee to meet tomorrow
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) high-level committee will meet on Wednesday to discuss the further course of action in the wake of inclusion of party MP Kanimozhi's name in the supplementary charge sheet filed by the CBI in the 2G scam.
In a statement issued here, DMK's general secretary K. Anbazhagan said the party's high-level action committee would meet on April 27 to chalk out the party's future course of action.
According to him, the CBI questioning of Kanimozhi, wife of Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi and managing director of Kalaignar TV Sharad Kumar were given wide publicity.
The party also contended that inspite of Kalaignar TV's proof given for the Rs. 200-crore loan and its repayment, Kanimozhi and the channel's Managing Editor Sharad Kumar were charged by the CBI.
"Even after it had been proved in a transparent manner that the Rs. 200 crore loan given by a firm (DB Reality to Kalaignar TV) was returned with interest and that there was nothing hanky panky and no conspiracy, Dayalu and Kanimozhi were questioned (by CBI)," the statement said.
Kanimozhi has been charged with section 7 and 11 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The chargesheet said the investigation into the case disclosed that money had travelled from DB Realty to Kalaignar TV.
The CBI had earlier told the court that Rs 200 crore connected with the 2G spectrum scam had travelled from a partnership firm of Swan Telecom Promoter Shahid Usman Balwa to Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd.
The agency had said the money travelled through a 'circuitous route' through Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd, a DB group company and Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd.
