Dissolve NCW, BSP urges PM
The ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has asked the Prime Minister to dissolve the National Commission for Women, which, they alleged, was working like a frontal organisation of the Congress.
Reacting sharply to the statement issued by the NCW regarding the violence in Bhatta Parsaul village in Greater Noida, the BSP spokesman said that by making false allegations of atrocities on women in Bhatta Parsaul, the NCW acting president was merely trying to prove her loyalty to the Congress which had been made to bite dust with its earlier statements.
The BSP has asked the PM to disband the NCW and reconstitute the body with members who do not have political bias and can bear their responsibilities in a free and fair manner. The BSP said allegations of rape of women in Bhatta Parsaul were completely false and it was unfortunate the NCW was pursuing false claims made for vested political interests. “The acting chief of NCW has behaved in an irresponsible manner and it is clear that she cannot head a body like the NCW,” the spokesman said.
The BSP spokesman further criticised the Congress for playing politics on the Bhatta Parsaul issue and using the NCW to substantiate its charges. The spokesman further added that the Congress had a history of misusing constitutional bodies to further its political interests.
