Dissidents to push party for Gehlot exit
Dissidents in the ruling Congress in Rajasthan have been gearing up to mount pressure on the central leadership against chief minister Ashok Gehlot while the Opposition BJP is on its way to set its house in the order. According to the BJP sources, senior party leader Arun Jaitley is visiting Jaipur on August 5 to bring together all sections of the party.
The dissidents in the Congress continuously campaigning against Mr Gehlot and demanding change in the state Cabinet. The disgruntled MLAs of the party led by Col. Sona Ram indicated that they will make a fresh attempt against the chief minister. Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has also met several party leaders from the state to get feedback about the party and government.
Mr Gandhi had a meeting with Mr Gehlot last week in Delhi. The anti-Gehlot camp was busy in making an atmosphere that Mr Gandhi was not happy with the performance of the state government as well organisation. “Whenever the government try to highlight its achievements and programmes, a section of the party creates problem. It is like helping the Opposition,” a Congress leader said.
On the other hand, the BJP is trying to put its house in order ahead of Assembly elections in Rajasthan. The party leaders last week met at the core committee meeting in Delhi and discussed the state of organisation as well next elections in the state. Barring former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, all senior leaders were present in the meeting. Ms Vasundra Raje is said to out of India.
According to the sources, Mr Jaitley is coming to Jaipur on August 5 to resolve issues affecting party functioning.
