Dikshit Jr in first class bag mystery
Sandeep Dikshit, who represents East Delhi constituency in the Lok Sabha and is the son of Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, found himself in an embarrassing situation on his arrival at Habibganj station here by the Bhopal Express on Thursday morning.
The train attendant found a bag containing `10 lakh on the upper berth of his first class coupe after he had alighted from the train.
The duty-bound attendant deposited with the RPF the bag containing the money. It was then handed over to the Government Railway Police as unclaimed baggage, which, in turn, was deposited with the executive magistrate under Section 25 of the Police Act.
While Mr Dikshit was prompt in telling the authorities that the money did not belong to him, another passenger, Mr Jayesh Mathur, approached the GRP to claim the bag. His version to the police was that he has known Mr Dikshit for many years and as he was travelling in the II AC compartment he had requested Mr Dikshit to keep his valuables, saying they would be safe with him. Mr Mathur told the police he thought that Mr Dikshit must have taken his bag along with his own luggage when he got down. But on being contacted about an hour later, Mr Dikshit said he did not pick up the bag before leaving the train.
