Delhi-bound Rajdhani stopped by rail blockade in Assam
A rail blockade called by the Merchants Association in Assam's Kokrajhar district brought the New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express and other trains to a halt on Saturday
The Rajdhani Express was controlled at Salakati, while local passenger trains were stopped by protesters at different places in the district, officials said.
The Merchants Association has called for the blockade from 8 am demanding that long-distance trains stop at Kokrajhar, the headquarters of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
The association had been assured earlier by the administration and a local MP that the matter would be taken up with the railway authorities after it blocked train services for three hours on September 13.
"Today's blockade was called as the assurance has not been honoured," sources in the association said.
