Deadlock continues in Parliament
For the 20th consecutive day, both the Houses of Parliament had to be adjourned without transacting any meaningful business. Only a few papers were laid on the table of the House.
With the impasse in Parliament continuing over the Opposition’s demand for a Joint parliamentary Probe(JPC) into the 2G spectrum allocation scam, the members of the Mongolian parliamentary delegation led by the chairman of the state great hural of Mongolia, his excellency Damdingiin Demberel, were treated to the spectacle of our parliamentarians’ behaviour in the Lok Sabha.
The moment the House assembled, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar announced the arrival of the Mongolian delegation and wished them a fruitful stay in India.
The Speaker’s appeal to all members to behave responsibly as they were being watched by the country’s guests fell only on deaf ears as the Opposition MPs continued to rush to the well of the House and raised slogans demanding a JPC probe into the 2G affair.
In the Rajya Sabha too, the scene was no different as the House had to be adjourned till noon.

Sharad: CBI raids on Raja delayed step
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI
Dec. 9: Demanding for custodial interrogations of those involved in the alleged 2-G spectrum allocation scam, NDA convenor and JD(U) president Sharad Yadav on Thursday described the CBI raids at the residences of former telecom minister A. Raja as “delayed action”.
Mr Yadav said, “The Opposition has been raising the issue of corruption in 2G spectrum allocation for last three years since it had happened. But the raids happened after so much delay. This is delayed action and even that would not have taken place had the Opposition not kept up its pressure.”
The JD(U) leader claimed that those involved in the scam were intelligent enough to have the evidences removed. “Moreover, usually nothing comes out in 80 per cent cases of CBI raids. So, as long as those involved in the scam are not taken into police custody, nothing will come out,” he added.
Strongly reiterating the opposition demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the alleged scam, Mr Yadav said, this is the only way that “we can effectively go into the issue”.
