Dad abandons boy in train for ‘stealing’ toy
In a shocking incident, a man on Sunday abandoned his 7-year-old son in a train here accusing him of stealing toys in neighbour’s house, the police said.
The boy, Sumit Kumar Singh, was rescued by railway police force (RPF) from Mumbai-Howrah Mail at Raigarh railway station after being alerted by the passengers of the train. The RPF personnel later left the hapless boy in the care of a local NGO, Child Helpline.
“The RPF contacted us to take care of the kid till his parents are located. We have now shifted him to Bal Sadan, an orphanage, in Raigarh town”, Child Helpline coordinator Deepak Dandsena told this newspaper. According to him, the boy’s parents have settled down in Raipur a month ago.
