Curfew imposed in ghaziabad after 6 killed
Curfew was imposed late Friday night in Massori police station area of Gha-ziabad following violence and arson after the alleged desecration of a holy book in Dasna area in which six persons were killed after the police opened fire.
Over a dozen policemen were seriously injured as protesters torched the Mas-sori police station, a rest-aurant, a police vehicle and some private vehicles. They also blocked the nati-onal highway and threw stones at MP Rajender Aga-rwal’s car. The deceased were identified by the authorities as Asif, Wah-eed, Lukman, Amir, Was-im and Hayat. Two of them belonged to Meerut. The protesters claimed that torn papers from the holy text were found at Adhy-atmik Nagar station platform which angered members of the community and led to violent protests.
