Police said that Kumar and his mother were at home in the evening while his father and younger brother had gone out. Around 4.30 pm, his mother stepped out to dry the clothes.
When she returned after 15 minutes, the main door was locked from inside. There was no response when she knocked, as she peeped through the window of Kumar’s room she found him hanging using a saree.
“On seeing it, she raised an alarm and neighbours broke open the door and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead,” the police added.

Killers used bike, known to family

Chennai: The police claims to have the vehicle number of a bike allegedly used by the men responsible for the murders of Vimaladevi and her daughter Pavithra in their home in Maduravoyal.
CCTV footage in the possession of the police shows two men arriving on a bike at the house Thursday morning and  one of them entering the house and returning  half an hour later,  leaving the other waiting outside.
The bike’s registration number has been noted and the suspects will be nabbed soon, said a senior police officer.
Pavithra , who worked in HOV Services, Kilpauk, had reached home at 5 am after a night shift and the girl’s father, Samikannu, 42, who runs an eatery at an MMDA building in Mettukuppam, had left for work, the police added. Going by neighbours, Vimaladevi too usually went to assist her husband after their son, Sugumar, 25 left for work.
So when she did not come to the shop or answer his calls on Thursday,Samikannu returned home at around 10.30am to check and found both his wife and daughter dead in the house, the police said.
“If they wanted the cash and gold, they could have taken it. But they killed my wife and daughter for no reason,” said a shocked Samikannu.
Confirming that gold chains of around 15 sovereigns were taken from the victims, deputy commissioner, Anna Nagar, S. Xavier Dhanraj,  said  it could be a tactic to mislead the police into believing it was murder for gain. The police think the offender could be someone the family knew as there were no signs of forced entry.
A sniffer dog led the police to an  abandoned building on Mettukuppam main road, where two liquor bottles were found. Fingerprints collected from the spot matched those found at the crime scene, according to the police.
