Akividu: The people of Cherukumilli village in West Godavari attacked a couple of the village for allegedly practising sorcery. Sources said that K. Somayya, a villager, was seen moving in suspicious circumstances at night by locals and the villagers attacked him.
Their suspicion increased when they found material like broken bangles and headless chicks in a house under construction in the area and Somayya moving around. The death of a woman in the area a few days ago added to their suspicion.
On Thursday the villagers assembled in large numbers at the house of Somayya and questioned him about his night time movements.  When he did not reply in a satisfactory way the locals attacked him and wife. On coming to know about the incident Akividu police rushed to the spot, and took Somayya and his wife and mother into custody.
The locals also complained to the police about the activities of Somayya.

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman was found dead in a field at Moinabad on Thursday. The victim seems to have died about four days ago. The body was found in a ditch and was highly decomposed. The police has alerted stations in the nearby area to trace the deceased. The police is investigating the possibility of both murder and suicide.
According to S. Ravinder Chandra Inspector of Police Moinabad, the body was found abandoned in a ditch in the fields near Appareddypally village, Kanakamamidi Gram panchayath on Thursday morning by the locals who smelt some foul smell from the ditch. They later informed the police.
“When we reached the spot and found the body in a seven feet ditch in an highly decomposed state, and suspect that she would have died about four to five days ago. The deceased was wearing a pink sari and red bangles, which are the only evidences we could collect from the spot.”
Though there were no external injuries found on the deceased woman’s body and the police not confirming that it could be a murder, but are also trying to pull out the murder angle as well. “ As the body was highly decomposed, due to which it was beyond recognition made us difficult in identifying any external injuries on it.” The inspector said.
“There is absolutely no chance right now to confirm whether it is a suicide or murder or she accidently fell down in the ditch and died. We have sent the body for a post mortem, and only after which we tell you the exact cause of death.” Ravi Chandra said.
The police registered case under suspicious death 174 of the CrPC and investigating. The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for an autopsy.

Youth commits suicide over love
Hyderabad: A youngster hanged himself to death at his residence in Surya Nagar, Alwal. The victim, who came to the city two years ago in search of livelihood, was in love with a girl from the same area.
A week ago, she married her cousin, and he went into depression. The deceased is R. Raju, 21, a labourer. He was a native of Prakasam district. Alwal police said that Raju was working at construction sites at various places in the city. He for past a year was in love with a girl from the same Surya Nagar colony area. But the main confirmation is that whether the love affair was a one sided one or a two sided one. The girl was married to her cousin according to the consent of the family just a week ago.
Ramu returned home from his work on Wednesday evening. On the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday he hanged himself to the ceiling in his house. The neighbors who saw him dead informed the police. The police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Gandhi Hospital for a post mortem. A case under section 174 of the CrPc is registered and investigated.

Man denied money for liquor, ends life
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old man, who attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze on Wednesday night as he was denied money to consume alcohol, succumbed on Thursday morning at the Gandhi Hospital. The deceased L. Narasaiah, 25, is a resident of Kushaiguda.
Police said that Narasaiah used to work as a labourer at construction sites and got addicted to alcohol. His mother Shankaramma, is the one who earns money and takes care of all the expenditures at home. Narasaiah very often would demand money from his mother just to consume liquor, and Shankaramma would deny asking him to work, earn and then use the money from his expenses, rather than demanding it from her. This continued for past a year.
On Wednesday night, when Narasaiah asked his mother to give him money, she straight away denied and as he became furious and revolted on her, she locked him in the house and went out. By the time she returned, was shocked to find him burnt and immediately shifted to the hospital, where he died on Thursday morning, while under treatment.
A suspicious case under section 174 of the CrPc has been registered and investigated.

Youth cheated of  Rs 14lakh by British firm
Tirunelveli: A Tirunelveli youth claims to have been cheated to the tune of Rs 14 lakh by a  fake  British firm that promised him a job as a  fire safety officer.
Anthony Stalin (27), a B.com graduate, who did a fire safety course, was employed in a company in Coimbatore as fire safety officer when he learnt about a similar job on offer in a British company, Wicked Field Global Oil and Gas  and applied for it online. 
Following an online interview, an official from the company, Taylor Eliot , reportedly instructed him to pay Rs 1 lakh for his visa expenses and Rs 3 lakh more for the registration of his certificates in England.
But Antony claims that even after he deposited the amount demanded from him in the bank account given by Taylor, he did not receive the appointment order. Worried,  he said, he contacted the company again only to be met for more  demands for money. The so-called company officials allegedly told him that the money was not refundable if he did not take the job.
So Anthony, hoping to get the job in London with the promised pay of Rs 2 lakh a month, deposited the  money they asked for at intervals. In all , he sent them Rs 14,08,450 over  about six months.

Krishnagiri: Dharmapuri police arrested a man who was ferrying the body of his wife in a car after killing her over an extra-marital affair.
Dharmapuri highway patrol found a car with Karnataka number plates parked on the road side near Karimangalam, 15 kilometers from Dharama­puri on the Krishnagiri-Salem highway. The policemen questioned the driver and found him drunk. They also saw a woman’s  body  lying on the back seat of the car.
When questioned, the driver identified himself as Srinivasan, 35, a lorry owner of Kamaksh­ipalayam in Bengaluru. Srinivasan informed police that the lady occupant was his wife Prema, 29, who was asleep due to the tiredness caused by the long journey from Bengaluru.
Police asked Srinivasan to wake her up but Prema failed to respond. The driver was arrested.
