Hyderabad: A police constable and two other men allegedly gangraped a 40-year-old woman from Hyderabad, at the Kothakota bus stand in Mahbubnagar. A fourth man, a home guard, was a spectator.
The woman, a resident of Almasguda, was waiting at the RTC bus stand to return to Hyderabad at around 1 am when the men dragged her to the back of the washroom near the bus stand and raped her. Mahbubnagar police arrested the four men in a few hours after the woman lodged a complaint.
Wanaparthy sub-division DSP B. Srinivas Rao said that the accused police constable K. Srinu, 26, and the home guard, T. Nagendram, 22, who are posted at Kothakota police station, were on night patrol when they saw the woman. The two other accused, J. Rakesh, 23, who was in charge of the parking lot near the bus stand, and B. Ramesh, 22, a labourer, both residents of Kothakota, were roaming around the area at the time.

“As the victim says, the police constable forcefully took her behind a washroom near the bus station, and raped her. The home guard did not rape the woman; however, he helped the constable commit the offence, and he kept the incident secret. After the constable left the area, the other two accused, who saw the incident, raped her one after the other,” said Srinivasa Rao.
The woman, who was returning from Kurnool after visiting a sick relative, reached the bus station at 12 midnight. She missed the last bus to Hyderabad, and decided to wait in the bus station till morning, said Kothakota circle inspector P. Venkateswaralu.
Cop on patrol found rape victim
Speaking on the alleged gangrape of a 40-year-old woman from Hyderabad, at the Kothakota bus stand in Mahbubnagar in Wanaparthy sub-division DSP B. Srinivas Rao said, “At around 3.30 am, a constable who was on night patrol found the victim and inquired about what happened. When she revealed the incidents, he took her to the police station and we booked a case based on her complaint.”
The home guard has been arrested for helping the attackers and for not reporting the crime to the police. K. Srinu, the police constable who first raped the woman, had been in police service for one-and-a-half years, and Nagendram has been a home guard for three years.
The accused have been booked for rape under the Criminal Amendment Act 2013, IPC 376 (b). All the accused people were produced before the local court on Thursday.
The victim was given treatment at a hospital at Mahbubnagar and her condition is stable.

Chennai: In a brutal incident, an 18-year-old college girl and her 11-year-old bro­t­her were killed by the girl’s estranged lover in her house in Thenambal Nagar in Madam­b­ak­kam on Thursday after she refused to go with the killer.
The victims were identified as Sudhershini, a first year B Com student, and Yogesh, a student of Class 6, who were the children of Vasudevan and Indhubala.
The police said that Mukesh, 21, a resident of Medvakkam, was the killer who went to meet Sudhershini, with whom he had had a registered marriage in July after they eloped.
“Mukesh’s brother was her classmate. Mukesh was doing the hotel management course in the same college where Sudhershini was studying,” the police said.
Sudhershini, however, found within a couple of days of living with him that she was having a very bitter experience and returned to her parents’ house from where she continued with her college studies.
On Thursday, she and her brother were alone at home, while their parents being away at work. Mukesh came to convince her to return with him. She, however, refused to oblige him. Police said that he got angry and started assaulting Sudhershini.
He tried to cut her hair with a knife and tore off her dress. When Yogesh tried to intervene, he was also assaulted and knifed by Mukesh.
“It looks like after knifing the two he had crushed his victims, using a gas cylinder,” a police officer, who visited the scene of the crime, told this newspaper.
