Occupants wide-awake as burglars rob house of gold
Hyderabad: Burglars decamped with 630 grams of gold ornaments and 1 kg silver from a house at Malkajgiri early on Wednesday morning.
Sources said two burglars entered the Gauthamnagar residence of Balaji Goud, 42, an IT employee, after removing a window grill at around 4 am. Though Mr Balaji and his wife woke up when they heard the burglars cutting the grill, they were too afraid to alert the police or neighbours, said Malkajgiri inspector L.C. Naik.
“The burglars entered the house, switched on the lights and even got into the bedroom of the houseowner. However, the occupants could not alert the cops or anyone else due to fear,” Mr Naik said.
“They searched the house while the houseowner was awake and found the keys to the almirahs. They looted the articles in the almirahs and went out the way they had come in,” Mr Naik added.
However, the police said that the burglars were not carrying any deadly wea-pons with them. “They had only screwdrivers and a few other tools,” said the inspector. Mr Balaji’s neighbours had also heard the burglars, however, since nobody raised an alarm they thought that some construction work was going on in the house and ignored it,” added Mr Naik.
In his complaint, Mr Balaji stated that the burglars were not wearing any masks and he had seen their faces clearly. The police suspects the involvement of a specific gang in the incident. “We are zeroing in on a few gangs in this case. They check out the houses during the day when they come on the pretext of selling flowers and commit burglary at night.”
