14-yr-old falls from roof, dies
Hyderabad: A Class IX student died after falling from a three-storey building near Golconda late on Sunday night. The 14-year-old boy, Syed Sadiq Ali, was playing a video-game in a shop when his father came looking for him. Not wanting to face his father, Sadiq tried to run away, but he fell from the roof-top. The boy was immediately shifted to a hospital, but was declared brought dead, Golconda police said.
Sadiq Ali, a resident of Hakim Shah Colony, was at Spirit Gaming Zone, in Adams Colony, when his father came to take him home at around 10.45 pm. “When someone told him that his father was downstairs, and was coming up to take him home, Sadiq took off. His father and the watchman of the building went after him. However, on reaching the terrace, he fell,” Syed N. Javed, Golconda inspector said.
Sadiq’s relatives said the boy was scolded for not obeying his father. He had not been home for the past eight days and was staying at his friend’s house. “His father, Rahmath Ali Khan, an autorickshaw driver, wanted him to return. On Sunday night, Rahmat came to know that Sadiq was at a gaming zone, and he went there to get the boy home,” said Sadiq's relative.
“Sadiq feared that his father would beat him if he was caught at the gaming zone. That is why he was trying to run away,”  Javed said. Police said that one of the sides of the terrace, from which the boy fell, did not have any wall. In the darkness, the boy might have missed that, suspects the police. Golconda police has booked a case under CrPc Section 174, and has started an investigation.
