Cricketer ends life day after league loss
P.K. Dharma, a state cricketer from Chennai, committed suicide by hanging in his house on Nelson Manickam Road Sunday.
The 20-year-old with immense potential had bowled for Globe Trotters at Chepauk Saturday against Vijay CC in the three-day TNCA senior division league final and held his own against the likes of Rahul Dravid and S. Badrinath. Globe Trotters, however, lost the match.
Dharma, an all-rounder, had represented TN in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Buchi Babu tournament. The son of a couple working in an insurance firm was pursuing engineering.
“There were no signs of anything wrong. The way he was shaping I thought he was on track to becoming mainstay of TN Ranji team,” said Globe Trotters skipper S. Sriram.
