CPM MLA kin claim murder
The mysterious death of CPI(M) MLA Mostafa Bin Qasem took a new turn Wednesday when his family refused to accept that he had jumped to his death at the MLAs’ Hostel on Kyd Street, and alleged foul play.
His son Masoom Bin Mostafa claimed Qasem was murdered in a pre-planned way. The family may lodge an FIR at the Park Street police station soon. Masoom even questioned the authenticity of the two “suicide notes” which the police claims to have found in the deceased’s room. He alleged his father may have been forced to write them.
Demanding a judicial inquiry to unravel the “mystery”, he said he would meet chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
“None of my family members either accepts his death as suicide or the papers recovered from his room as his suicide notes,” he added.
Sitting at his ancestral house at Nehalpur village in Basirhat, North 24-Parganas, Masoom alleged: “These notes should be examined properly to detect if he was forced to write them.”
He said his family couldn’t accept the suicide theory for various reasons, including the fact that his father was an arthritis patient and could not walk steadily without someone’s help, and thus could not have climbed a four-foot-high wall on the hostel’s fourth floor.
