CPM leader wife: Will sue Biman

Alleging that he has ruined her family by suspending her husband on the basis of false charges of corruption and nepotism, Sabita Basu, the wife of suspended CPI(M) leader from Hooghly Anil Basu, on Friday threatened to file a defamation case against state party secretary Biman Bose.

In an unprecedented incident, Ms Basu launched a scathing attack against the state party leadership specifically targeting Mr Bose. By sitting by her side all through the news conference, Mr Basu made it clear that he fully supported and endorsed her tirade against the leadership. He also voiced his anguish by questioning the suspension order. “I was supposedly suspended for corruption and nepotism but in the suspension letter there is no specific mention of these two charges. I repeatedly asked Mr Bose what were the charges against me but he did not reply,” Mr Basu said.
Ms Basu said she was so disappointed by the behaviour of the party leadership that she wanted her husband to quit.
Ms Basu said that her husband, children and she herself had been devastated by Mr Bose’s behaviour.
“I want to ask Biman Bose why is he maligning my husband and my family... My husband has given 65 years of his life to the party unlike others who are running the party by sitting in AC chambers,” Ms Basu added.
