Congress tries to form govt in Uttarakhand
The Congress appeared on course Tuesday night to try to form a government in Uttarakhand after it took a wafer-thin one-seat advantage over the ruling BJP in a cliffhanger contest.
The Congress won 32 seats, four short of a majority in the 70-member House. The BJP won 31 seats.
Congress sources said the party will seek support from three Independents and the UKD, which won one seat. It might also seek the help of three BSP MLAs.
A Congress delegation met governor Margaret Alva Tuesday evening to stake its claim.
