Congress to press for debate on motion of confidence
Opposition Congress will press for a debate on the motion of confidence to be moved by chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in the state assembly on Thursday. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party on Thursday morning, KPCC working president D.K. Shivakumar told reporters.
"We will appeal to Speaker K.G. Bopaiah to allow a debate on the motion of confidence. We want to throw light on the political events that unfolded in Karnataka during the debate," he said.
Shivakumar accused the ruling BJP of engaged in "horse trading" and wondered why the government was not dismissed on the issue. He alleged that the BJP has approached several Congress members to lure to their side but none from the party obliged.
He said all Congress members would vote against the trust vote in the Assembly, making it clear that it has no intention to abstain from voting.
