Congress MPs, ministers may face action
Congress MPs and ministers who have failed the party must now prepare to face turbulent weather ahead.
According to a senior AICC leader, MPs who had taken tickets for their kin on the assurance that they would ensure the party’s victory in their respective constituencies, will now be required to do some answering.
“The party high command will shortly begin a seat-to-seat assessment and we already have reports that some of our MPs did not work hard enough. In fact, it was their laidback attitude that nullified the efforts made by Mr Rahul Gandhi,” said a senior AICC leader.
The role of Union minister for steel Beni Prasad Verma in these elections is under the scanner. Mr Verma had been given a free hand in distribution of tickets. Another Congress minister likely to face trouble is Salman Khurshid, whose insistence on the Muslim reservation issue boomeranged badly, leading to a polarisation of OBC votes against the Congress.
