Congress makes way for YSRC man
Vijayawada: In a significant development in the panchayat polls, the Congress leadership has withdrawn its candidate from contesting in Kanchikacherla. The local Congress leadership has announced support to YSR Congress candidate Gadde Prasad on Friday.
Though Kanchikacherla is said to be one of the important panchayats in the district, the Congress leadership has unexpectedly withdrawn the party candidate from the race. However, the Congress and YSR Congress candidates are contesting the polls with mutual understanding.
Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal is said to have given the green signal to the local leadership. Krishna district Telugu Desam president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao’s family members also live in this village.
Umamaheswara Rao’s younger brother had recently joined the YSRC. However, the TD has fielded Nannapaneni Narasimha Rao, who is the party’s local unit president. In this backdrop, the contest for the Kanchikacherla panchayat gains importance.
