Congress calls Narendra Modi a monkey
In a new low in politics, Congress President Arjun Modvadia has compared Chief Minister Narendra Modi to a monkey.
Without taking Modi by name, Modvadia told a rally in Junagarh on Tuesday that while Manmohan Singh was a lion, a monkey sitting on the top of a tree is trying to challenge the lion.
Later, reacting to his comments, Modiwada told TV channels that monkeys are far better and respectable animals as they do not harm anyone.
The Congress leader said some people have been bitten by dogs and they keep on taking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s name at regular intervals. Such people are dreaming of becoming the prime minister of the country.
He said: "You cannot compare lions with monkeys... monkeys keep sitting on trees and challenging lions without realising that he can never be the lion".
The BJP was prompt in hitting back. BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Such comments about a popular chief minister by a senior Gujarat Congress leader is not worth commenting. Are such comments right? That is something the Congress should think about."
