Cong MLA hit out at CBI probe
Facing heat from the CBI in the Gopalgarh incident, the Opposition BJP and a section of ruling Congress have launched a campaign against the agency to corner it. After the BJP, Congress MLA and parliamentary secretary Zahida Khan also lashed out at the CBI for framing innocent people in cases. The BJP had already protested against the agency in Bharatpur.
Gopalgarh falls under Ms Khan’s Kaman Assembly constituency of Bharatpur where violence erupted in September, 2011, claiming 10 lives. A group of Meo community led by Congress MLA and Ms Zahida Khan’s brother Zakir Hussain held a mahapanchayat on Saturday at Kathol village in Bharatpur and protested against the agency.
The protest from both the parties triggered when the CBI issued notices to 37 people, including four local BJP leaders and party MLA from Nagar Anita Singh, for questioning in connection with the Gopalgarh violence. The agency also summoned the Ms Zahida Khan. The agency had already questioned Ms Anita Singh on July 19, 2012.
