Cong man does it again, calls BJP ‘terror symbol’
A day after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had urged party leaders not to stray from the party line, AICC spokesman Meem Afzal on Tuesday termed the BJP a “symbol of terrorism”.
AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmed meanwhile met party chief Sonia Gandhi amid a raging controversy over his tweet that the 2002 Gujarat riots had led to the formation of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen, even as he questioned the “hype” over his comment.
Minister of state for home R.P.N. Singh refused to be dragged into the controversy on Tuesday, saying the NIA chargesheet and the MHA position on the banned outfit were clear.
Mr Afzal, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the party’s media workshop here, said: “The BJP is a symbol of terrorism... Whatever they have done in Gujarat in 2002 is not less than terrorism... What does terrorism mean other than killing innocents and harming them?”
